Messy Pancakes, Ash Wednesday & Floodlighting

Dear friends,

"Forgive us our sins
as we also forgive those who sin against us."
Matthew 6:12

If you missed Sunday's service on the Lord's Prayer and forgiveness, you can watch it on our YouTube channel.

At next Sunday's service, we will return to looking at Mark's Gospel and Gavin will be preaching on the Greatest Commandment. The service includes the Lord's Supper.

Messy Church is back with a Pancake Party on Shrove Tuesday (17 February) at 10:00am. There will be crafts, music, a story about Jesus and, of course, pancakes. Do come along and think about who else you could invite.

On Ash Wednesday at 5:00pm, there will be a service to mark the start of Lent. This reflective service will include the imposition of ashes. Ashes placed on foreheads in the shape of a cross are a symbol of mortality, penitence, and renewal. They remind us we are but dust and yet the cross also points to the hope of Easter.

Did you know you can sponsor the floodlighting of St John's Church? You can choose to commemorate a personal event, an anniversary, or any other special occasion. Alternatively you can simply make a donation to help with the day-to-day running expenses of our parish church. The lights are on from dusk until midnight and a night's floodlighting costs £10.00. Please make any cheques payable to "St John's Church, Elmswell PCC." For any bookings or further information please contact Trevor Sadler, Abbots Warren, Church Road, Elmswell on 01359 240908 or email: trevor.sadler@dsl.pipex.com

The online weekly is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. To join, click here or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

In Christ,

Peter
