St John's News - 16 October 2025

Dear friends,

So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:27

If you missed the service on Sunday and the beginning of our series on the opening chapters of Genesis, you can find it our YouTube channel.

The main reading for next Sunday's 10:30am service is Genesis 2:4-25. Sunday School will be looking at how God provides for Abraham in Genesis 22.

Pam Millyard will be sharing some of her poems at the next Ladies Brunch on Saturday 25 October at 10:30am. This promises to be a lovely morning - if you would like to come, a sign up form is at the back of church.

On Saturday 1 November at 3:00pm, we are holding a special event called A Time To Remember & A Time To Give Thanks at St John's. This short service marks the passing of loved ones and honours their memory. The service includes readings, hymns, the reading out of the names of those we are remembering, and the lighting of candles. The service is followed by some refreshments. All those who have faced bereavement are invited to attend.

Looking ahead to next month, do visit the pop-up Christmas Bookshop that will be at Red House Farm, Fen Lane, Stowmarket IP14 5EG on 10-11 November.
The online weekly church prayer meeting is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. To join, click here or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

Finally, if you would like to set up regular giving to St John's or make a one-off gift, you can do so using the Parish Giving Scheme.

In Christ,

Peter
