St John's News - 16 January 2024

Dear friends,

"The time has come," Jesus said.
"The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!"
Mark 1:15

If you missed Tom’s superb sermon on Mark 1:1-15 and the service on Sunday, you can find it on our YouTube channel.

Next Sunday we will be continuing with Mark 1:14-39. Sunday School will be looking at the calling of the first disciples.

Janet Baker is recovering from her operation on her back and remains grateful for all the cards and messages of support. Please respect the family's request that we only text or WhatsApp her. Please do not visit or phone.

Teas and coffees are greatly appreciated after the morning service. However, we are short of helpers at the moment. If you are willing to help occasionally in the kitchen, please contact Rosie Ellis by emailing rellisstjohns@gmail.com or have a word after the service.

Bookings for the Cambridge Women's Bible Conference opens on Friday (19 January). This is not to be missed. It will be held at Christ Church Cambridge on Saturday 2 March 9:30am to 4:00pm considering the theme of "rest." More information and a link to booking here - please note spaces go fast!

Suffolk Historic Churches Trust would like to thank everyone for their support of the fundraising Ride & Stride day last September. The Lavenham area (of which we are part) raised over £12,800.

The weekly church prayer meeting is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. You are welcome to join us by clicking here or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

With every blessing in Christ,

Peter
