St John's News - 7 November 2023

Dear friends,

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
1 Corinthians 12:27

If you missed Sunday’s all age service (looking at the theme of "What is the Church?"), you can catch up on our YouTube channel

This coming Sunday is Remembrance Sunday. There will be 2 services - a shorter service of Holy Communion at 9:00am (with no hymns) and the main Remembrance Sunday service at 10:30am. There will be a 2 minute silence at 11:00am. There will also be a short act of Remembrance on Saturday 11 November, starting around 10:50am at the memorial inside the church.

The Elmswell Poor's Land Charity is open for applications for a Christmas gift, which will be in the form of Co-Op vouchers. If you, or anybody you know, are experiencing particular hardship at this difficult time, the charity would be happy for an application to be submitted. The applicant needs to have lived in Elmswell for over 3 years. Last year, successful applicants received £100 of vouchers, so it is worth applying if you are in need. Please note: determination of relative hardship will be the sole discretion of the Trustees. Download application form here

The funeral of Joe Thompson, who died recently, will take place at St John's on Tuesday 14 November at 1:00pm. Please remember Joe’s family in your prayers.

The weekly church prayer meeting is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. You are welcome to join us by clicking here or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

In Christ
