St John's Newsletter - 6 June

Dear friends,

Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
Psalm 20:7

If you missed Sunday's all age service, catch it on our YouTube channel.

Next Sunday (11 June) at 10:30am, we will be looking at 2 Peter chapter 2. The service will be Holy Communion and, to mix things up a bit, we will use the Book of Common Prayer liturgy.

The Big Tidy: Please come along to the church on Saturday 10 June from 10:00am to noon to help tidy the churchyard and church. There will be a range of jobs to be done both inside and out. Your support will be greatly appreciated. If you have a strimmer, hedge trimmer or lawnmower you can bring along, it would be most helpful.

Concert: Later that day (Saturday 10 June) Nutz and Boltz and friends are doing a fund-raising concert at 7:30pm. This promises to be a very enjoyable evening. No tickets required, just turn up with your own drinks and nibbles and a donation.

Friends: The Friends of St John's service will be on Sunday 18 June at 10:30am, followed by lunch in the church. The Friends of St John's is now coming to a close, having raised over £50,000 for the Fabric of the church since 1995. We are very grateful for all they have done for the church.

Coffee Rota: We would love to have some more volunteers to help in the kitchen with tea and coffee following the 10:30am service – you would only need to help every 4 to 6 weeks. If you are able to lend a hand, please let Rosie Ellis know - rellisstjohns@gmail.com

Prayer: Prayer is the powerhouse of the church and it would be lovely if you can join us online occasionally at the weekly church prayer meeting. It is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for just 40 minutes and you do not have to pray out loud. To join, click here or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

In Christ

Peter
