St John's News - 29 November

Dear friends,

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration
and there proclaim: "My God, how great thou art!"

From How great thou art! by Carl Gustav Boberg, translated by Stuart K. Hine

In case you missed Sunday's service and Brenda's encouraging talk on the return of Jesus, you can catch up on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@stjohnselmswell

This coming Sunday's service at 10:30am is a Christingle (all age). There is also a short 9:00am service of Holy Communion.

Our main Carol service, Carols by Candlelight, is on Sunday 11 December at 6:30pm. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and neighbours to hear the gospel.

A card for Phearak, who we sponsor in Cambodia, is at the back of church. It would be lovely to have as many members of the church sign this as possible.

Please support the Give Hope Traditional Christmas Event on Saturday 10 December (10am-3pm) at the Blackbourne. This free event offers people the chance to come along to find a gift for someone special, to enjoy carols sung by the local choir, a hot drink, mince pie and a biscuit. There’s also a bouncy castle and activities for children.

A reminder that the weekly church prayer meeting is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. To join, click https://us04web.zoom.us/j/6852951296 or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

In Christ,

Peter
