St John's News - 9 November

Dear friends,

It has been a busy few days with Anne Dyball's funeral, the Time to Remember service, Sunday’s all age service and the afternoon Confirmation service with Bishop Mike. Thank you to everybody who helped out with decorating the church, providing refreshments, welcoming, leading services and doing warden duties. In case you missed Sunday's services, you can catch up on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@stjohnselmswell

The defibrillator is being installed this afternoon (Wednesday). Please pop along if you would like to learn how to use it. There is also a short summary video on how to operate it here.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
(For the Fallen by Robert Laurence Binyon)

On Friday at 10:55am, there will be a short act of worship at the war memorial in church, with prayers, 2 minutes silence at 11:00am and the reading out of the names of those from Elmswell who died in the two World Wars. There is also the little Garden of Remembrance by the church entrance to place wooden crosses and poppies are available at the back of church.

The Remembrance Sunday service is at 10:30am and will include a talk for all ages. We are expecting around 25 to 30 children from uniformed organisations. Please note there is no Sunday School this week.

On Tuesday 22 November at 8:00pm some of the men from St John's will be having a drink at The Tavern. You are very welcome to come.

Finally, the weekly church prayer meeting is on Zoom on Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. To join, click https://us04web.zoom.us/j/6852951296 or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.

In Christ,

Peter
