News from St John's (10 Aug), including Ernest's farewell

Dear friends,

It was Christ who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. (Ephesians 4:11-12)

As announced last week, Ernest will be taking up the post of Rector of Coalbrookdale, Ironbridge and Little Wenlock in the Diocese of Hereford (https://www.coalironlitt.co.uk/) in September.

Ernest's last Sunday with us will be Sunday, 29 August. We will be saying farewell to him and the family at our 10:30am service, where we will also pray for them and the future ministry God is calling them to, with the laying on of hands. Please do make a note of this date for your dairies. Following the service, later on in the day, there will be the opportunity to enjoy some fellowship with them before they go at an Afternoon Tea held at the Wesley Hall at 3:00pm. If you would like to come to this, please let Rosie Ellis know on 01359 242629 or email rellisstjohns@gmail.com

Our service this coming Sunday, 15 August is at 10:30am. We will be looking at John 10:11-30 and, during the service, Toby Bignell and his son, Arlo, will both be baptised and welcomed into the community of Christ's people. Hope you can make it.

Finally, the church prayer meeting is online using Zoom each Saturday at 9:00am for 40 minutes. To join, click https://us04web.zoom.us/j/6852951296 or, load Zoom and use Meeting ID: 685 295 1296 and Password: 816262.
