What's happening at St John's?

Dear Friends,

I always love this time of year when the days get longer, daffodils start to appear and spring is in the air. It makes one feel good to be alive. What's more, we have many opportunities to be blessed at St John’s during this season.

First of all, we have our next Breakfast Church this coming Sunday - we meet at 9:00am for breakfast and 9:30am for worship. The last 2 Breakfast services have been simply superb times of informal worship with our fantastic band. The more traditional 11am services of Holy Communion have also been wonderful times of tasting and seeing that the Lord is good. I do hope you will be able to make one of these services on Sunday – whatever your preference, one of them should suit.

Don’t forget that the following week (26 March) is Mothering Sunday. We will be gathering for a family service with communion. This is always a lovely service for all ages.

And then suddenly we will be in April. The clocks will have changed and the evenings will be even lighter. April kicks off on the 2nd with our usual 9:30am All Age and 11am BCP Communion services. The following week sees the start of Holy week. The 9 April is Palm Sunday, which will be another lovely service with the whole church family meeting together for a service suitable for all ages.

Later that week we have our Maundy Thursday service of Holy Communion at 7:30pm and then on the 14 April, we host the Christians Together In Elmswell Good Friday service at 10:00am. I am hoping SlamJam will be singing at this service and we will have 2 contemporary worship songs and 2 hymns played on the organ. Hot cross buns will be available afterwards.

Please note there is no Breakfast Church / 11am Service on Easter Sunday. Instead we will be altogether at 10:30am to celebrate the resurrection.

The Friends of St John’s Lent Lunches are continuing throughout Lent –held in the church room, these offer a time of discussion and prayer followed by a lunch of soup and bread. All are very welcome to just turn up.

All the above provide us with great opportunities to be blessed by God. They also provide opportunities for us to invite friends and acquaintances to come along and encounter our awesome God. Why not be praying who you can bring along this season?

With best wishes in Christ,

Peter
