August has been a wonderful month at St John’s - we adored being part of the “Kingdom Express Holiday Club” organised by the Christians Together in Elmswell (see separate article). A fabulous opportunity to teach and share the Christian message with the girls and boys of Elmswell.

Please check out our website/service sheets/facebook page for details of many things going on at St John’s. Here are some of our busy September events:

We are really delighted and excited to host another «Evening of Praise and Worship» with the Battisford free church music group at St John’s on the 11th September 2016 at 6.30pm. All ages are welcome, new and old faces alike. Please bring your friends, it’s sure to be a great celebration. :)

Saturday 10 September is the Suffolk Historic Churches Trust annual cycle ride. If you’re feeling energetic you can be sponsored to cycle or walk to raise funds for the Trust and St John’s... Or, less energetically, spend the day in our beautiful church cheering on those taking part when they “check in” at St John’s on their route!

Our Annual Harvest Festival is Sunday 25th September at 10:30am. Join us to give thanks for the food we enjoy everyday. Food donations, which we will give to those in need, are very welcome. Also, the Friends of St John’s are organising the Harvest Horkey on Friday 16 September.

We are running some pre-confirmation classes in September :) A confirmation service is being organised for 8th October. If you’re interested in learning more about confirmation - what it means and why - please get in touch! We routinely run confirmation classes.

The youth group, CYFA, are kicking off the new academic year in September with a “safari supper” around the village. (Don’t worry, lions, elephants, rhinos etc. are not involved with this plan!)

This year we are supporting “Operation Christmas Child”, run by the excellent charity Samaritans Purse. Watch this space for more information over the next few weeks.... but mark your diary with: 9:30am Sunday 6th November = “Shoebox Sunday”.

Feel free to join us on Sunday mornings! Everyone is always welcome :)
